While HUL continues to train people in research skills and tries to develop in them an inclusive urban consciousness, it is now seeking longer term commitments from its team, for its work to have greater impact.

The present team at HUL comprises junior researchers, research assistants, visiting research scholars and engagement and communication coordinators.

HUL is currently not offering internships. There will be an announcement when they are resumed. The minimum period of internship is 8 weeks and post graduates in any discipline are eligible. The initial seven to ten days are meant for the intern to familiarise herself/ himself with the organisation’s routine, its previous work and in identifying a topic of work in alignment with HUL’s work themes.

Research hires sometimes happen through announcements on social media and sometimes on a rolling basis. Prospective researchers are expected to commit to working at HUL for a minimum of 24 months.

Post selection, researchers are placed on a three month probation during which they study HUL’s previous work, read and interact with others, explore prospective research sites, learn basic mapping skills and write journals. This gives everyone concerned, enough time to gauge mutual compatibility.
